President Pratibha Devisingh Patil today arrived by a special flight on a two-day visit to the undivided Daxina Kannada district.
Uttarakhand Governor Margaret Alva accompanied the President.
The President was received at the airport by Karnataka Governor H R Bharadwaj and Minister for Fisheries and Port Krishna J Palemar.
Mangalore City Corporation Mayor Ms Rajani Dugganna, Daxina Kannada Zila Panchayat President, Deputy Commissioner of Daxina Kannada and other senior police officials were present at the airport.
The President later left for Manipal from the airport by special helicopter to participate in the tenth convocation of Manipal University.
On her arrival at the helipad at Manipal, the President was received by district in-charge Minister and Minister for Higher Education Dr V S Acharya and Manipal University Chancellor Ramadas M Pai.
